Yesterday at the 2022 Sydney Eisteddfod Opera Scholarship I was awarded 2nd Prize. I would like to thank the Sydney Eisteddfod and donors for putting on this fabulous competition, as well as my accompanist and coach Alan Hicks who joined me for the Massenet aria. Of course, I must also acknowledge the incredible Dr. Nicholas Milton AM and Willoughby Symphony Orchestra for accompanying the Puccini who were on fire. The prize money will help me relocate to Germany early next year as I seek the next step in my opera singing journey. I'd also like to acknowledge my family for their unwavering support, and for inspiring and empowering me to work as hard as I do to chase an operatic career. A huge thank you is also in order to Maree Ryan AM my teacher with whom I really share this award. I couldn't have done it without Maree.
Finally, a MASSIVE congratulations to 2022 Winner Nathan Bryon and 3rd Prize Anna Stephens (pictured). Nathan sings like a champion, has extreme potential for the future and I cannot wait to see where he goes. He is extremely deserving of this year's scholarship and I wish Nathan every success. What a voice! Congratulations also to Anna all of my other colleagues that joined me in the final. The standard was high and it was a pleasure to join you all. Read more on Operawire.
