On Sunday afternoon, I received 2nd Prize in the Joan Sutherland & Richard Bonynge Bel Canto Award (BCA) and 1st Prize in the Sydney International Song Prize (SISP). I also received the Malcolm Donnelly Award and the Tait Memorial Trust Prize. Congratulations to all of my fellow competitors, especially to the overall BCA Winner, the incredible Fleuranne Brockway. Amazing!
I'd like to take an opportunity to thank Su Hee Cho for joining me for the SISP and congratulate her on 3rd Prize. She is a massive supporter and a dear friend, and I wouldn't have wanted to do the competition without her. I look forward to more collaboration in the future. Congratulations are also in order to my beautiful girlfriend Cassandra Doyle - Mezzo Soprano for receiving 2nd Prize in the SISP. Of course, congratulations are also in order to 1st Prize SISP pianist to Jamie-Lee Xu who has also supported me often throughout my Sydney Conservatorium studies.
Thank you again to my incredible teacher Maree Ryan AM, all the coaches I've worked with along the way and from a personal perspective, my lovely family and group of supporters. Thank you of course to Maestro Richard Bonynge AC, CBE, Artistic Director Fiona Janes and the Joan Sutherland & Richard Bonynge Bel Canto Award and Foundation for organising this wonderfully helpful and generous competition. It is truly a privilege in itself to sing for Maestro Bonynge and the esteemed panel.
I'm feeling well supported to continue my singing journey next year in Europe and UK. I'm extremely grateful for a fruitful year of competitions. It has been a completely life changing experience. More photos to come!
