Programs printed for this Tuesday’s exam recital at Sydney Conservatorium of Music. I’m a big believer in ‘love your audience’. Give them everything they need so they have the best experience that you can possibly give them.
That’s why I’ve written a 3,700 word program and have had it looked over by experienced program writers and editors. I’ve also been meticulous about its formatting. Audiences deserve to have their intelligence respected and they deserve an engaging performance in all aspects. No matter how large, how small or how seasoned your audience is.
Magician Harry Thurston told Dale Carnegie that before every show he would stand behind the curtain repeating to himself ‘I love my audience. I love my audience. I love my audience.’ He wouldn’t think them dumb because they couldn’t work out his tricks. He loved them because they were there seeing his show and making his livelihood possible.
THIS is performing. THIS is positivity. Love your audience and hopefully they’ll love you back. And most importantly work hard for them and prepare thoroughly. It’s all on you.
